2025 BMW 3 Series: Updates and Enhancements to the Iconic Sedan
The 2025 BMW 3 Series is set to refresh Bavaria’s lineup of compact sedans with several notable updates, including an advanced infotainment system, refined aesthetics, and enhanced performance for the M340i and high-end M3 variants.
A standout feature across the updated 3 Series models is the introduction of the iDrive 8.5 infotainment system. This upgrade includes a newly designed home screen and QuickSelect feature, which streamlines user interaction by reducing the need to navigate through multiple submenus. In addition to the improved software, the interior and exterior receive a makeover with new steering wheel options and trim finishes, alongside a redesigned dashboard illuminated by nine-color cascade lighting around the center vents.
Four fresh exterior color choices are available for the standard 3 Series, including Arctic Race Blue and Vegas Red, along with two new special “Frozen” finishes—Pure Grey and Portimao Blue. Customers can also opt for new 19-inch wheels that complement the updated look.
For the M3 model, enhancements include redesigned headlights and a flat-bottom steering wheel, with the Competition model receiving a new trunk lid badge outlined in silver for an added touch of sophistication.
Not all upgrades are superficial; BMW has made chassis modifications to enhance handling and comfort. Key improvements include stiffer mounts connecting the rear dampers to the body, which reportedly enhance ride quality and performance across various driving modes, particularly in Comfort mode where the steering now feels lighter.
The performance-tuned M340i receives a slight increase in power, now generating 386 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque—an increase of 4 hp and 29 lb-ft compared to its predecessor. However, its acceleration capabilities remain unchanged, with a 0-60 mph time of 4.4 seconds for rear-wheel drive and 4.1 seconds for all-wheel drive.
Similar enhancements apply to the all-wheel-drive M3 Competition, which now produces 523 horsepower thanks to tweaks in the engine management system. It maintains its acceleration figures, reaching 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph (or 180 mph with the M Driver’s Package).
Pricing for the 2025 BMW 3 Series starts at $46,675 for the base 330i and $60,775 for the M340i, while the M3 arrives at a starting price of $77,175.
