The 2024 Nissan Z Nismo was recently hinted at with impressive smoky drifts by Formula Drift champion Chris Forsberg. The teaser also offered a glimpse of the updated bodywork and interior. Observant enthusiasts may have noticed the absence of a clutch pedal and manual shifter in the video, indicating that the Nismo variant may only come with an automatic transmission.
A leaked order guide for the 2024 Nissan Z models on newnissanz.com suggests that the fears of manual sports car enthusiasts may be realized. The guide indicates that the Z Nismo, identified as model 41214, will not offer a manual transmission option. While the Sport and Performance trims are shown with a manual gearbox, the Nismo is listed with a nine-speed automatic transmission.
In an effort to gain further insights, we contacted Nissan for clarifications on the choice of transmission. A Nissan representative from The Drive stated, “We will share comprehensive details very soon.” While the forum post might be creating unnecessary alarm, it would be an enticing marketing point if a manual Nismo Z were to be offered.
Fortunately, the complete details about the Z Nismo are yet to be fully disclosed, leaving a glimmer of hope.
