Bentley has refined its range of Bentayga vehicles, incorporating upgraded chassis components from the Extended Wheelbase (EWB) models into standard variants and introducing the fresh Bentayga A model. Equipped with either a twin-turbocharged V8 gasoline engine or a plug-in hybrid V6, here is where the Bentayga lineup stands now that the W12 flagship has departed (unfortunate).
The noteworthy enhancements are centered on the standard-wheelbase Bentayga, which now integrates the rear-wheel steering mechanism initially introduced in the EWB variant. This feature, standard on S and Azure models, improves maneuverability at low speeds and stability at high speeds. It synergizes with the Bentayga’s existing advanced chassis technologies, such as air suspension and active anti-roll systems, and can be matched with an optional sports exhaust and carbon ceramic brakes.

The fresh Bentayga “A” edition, positioned between the base and Azure models, showcases the EWB’s vaned grille design and presents new 21-inch wheel alternatives. Inside, it showcases 15 unique leather color choices and three standard veneers. The entire spectrum of Bentley’s interior and exterior hues is also accessible through the comprehensive options list or the Mulliner personalization program.
Throughout all Bentayga models, additional exterior color choices include seven fresh satin finishes. The EWB version is now eligible for the Styling Specification, which includes a small rear-mounted wing, sill extensions, and extra trim elements around the front and rear bumpers for a more dynamic aesthetic.

Internally, Bentley has redesigned the air-conditioning system to incorporate improved cabin air filtration and a novel automatic particulate monitoring system. This feature automatically circulates air inside the cabin if external pollution levels are excessive, relying on data from the navigation system to activate preemptively when entering tunnels.
Bentley’s Spring Toybox event provides the opportunity to test drive a few Bentayga examples. Driving the V6 hybrid delivers a distinct experience compared to the regal and powerful W12, offering a more relaxed and less eager driving style in the V6. In electric mode, it provides a tranquil and serene atmosphere, very much in the Bentley tradition but with a notably unique characteristic compared to the engine with double the cylinders. With a combined output of 462 PS (456 bhp), the 3.0-liter TFSI V6 gasoline engine and 100 kW electric motor-generator can propel the Bentayga S Hybrid from 0 to 62 miles an hour (100 km/h) in just 5.3 seconds, with a maximum speed of 158 mph (254 km/h).

The Bentayga S showcases Bentley’s renowned 4.0-liter, twin-scroll turbocharged V8 gasoline engine, blending immense power with exceptional fuel efficiency. The latest iteration of the engine generates 542 bhp (550 PS) and 568 lb.ft. (770 Nm) of torque, achieving a 0-60 mph (0–100 km/h) time of 4.4 (4.5) seconds and a maximum speed of 180 mph (290 km/h). It now assumes the mantle as the new flagship model following the discontinuation of the W12, offering a sporty feel and ample power at your disposal. While it may lack the same seamless, smooth power delivery, it remains a potent power source that is more than deserving of the iconic flying B badge.
Sales for the updated Bentayga have already commenced, with pricing ranging from just above £160,000 to around £215,000 for a fully-equipped EWB Mulliner. The 2024 Bentley Bentayga, with its refined luxury and performance characteristics across all configurations, continues to establish itself as the benchmark in the luxury SUV segment.
