The 2022 GLC-Coupe has not been specifically tested by the IIHS nor the NHTSA, although the IIHS did evaluate the 2021 GLC SUV on which the coupe is based and it was a recipient of the agency’s Top Safety Pick award, with a spread of Good crashworthiness scores. The normal GLC scored an overall five stars out of five at the NHTSA.

There are numerous safety systems in place to protect occupants in the event of an accident, as well as technologies to prevent a collision from occurring in the first place. A total of seven airbags are dotted around the cabin, including a driver’s knee airbag and side curtain airbags for all outboard seating positions. The 4-door GLC 43 also boasts electronic stability control, traction control, rain-sensing windshield wipers, tire-pressure monitoring, and the pre-safe accident detection system. Added to these features are Adaptive Highbeam Assist, attention assist, crosswind assist, a surround-view camera system, front/rear parking sensors, parking assistance, blind-spot assist with exit warning, and rear cross-traffic alert.

Available options include a dashcam, adaptive cruise control, rear side airbags, congestion emergency braking, active lane change assist, evasive steering assist, and a head-up display.
