Jaguar has unveiled the significantly updated 2021 F-Type, yet instead of connecting it to something stylish and distinctive to Jaguar like the upcoming No Time to Die Bond film, the introduction of this British sports car highlights a collaboration with Mattel’s Hot Wheels. Interesting. Do you recall when Jaguar’s promotion cleverly emphasized the brand’s slightly shady, malevolent aura?
The primary alterations to the new F-Type can be observed in front of the front wheels with a redesigned front end boasting narrower, more threatening headlights and a marginally larger grille. The distinctive hockey-stick LED signature resembles that of Jaguar’s radical Vision Gran Turismo concept. While the rear of the two-door Jag receives some minor adjustments here and there, it largely retains the familiar look. Internally, Jaguar has revamped its sports car with a 12.3-inch display in the gauge cluster.
Similar to its predecessor, the rejuvenated F-Type will offer three distinct powertrain options. The baseline model comes equipped with a 295-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine and rear-wheel drive, while a supercharged V6 variant delivers 375 hp. On the other hand, the awe-inspiring all-wheel-drive F-Type R now generates 567 hp from its 5.0-liter supercharged V8, 17 more than the current R iteration, accelerating from zero to 60 in 3.5 seconds. The top-tier F-Type R also receives Jaguar Land Rover’s Pixel LED headlights.
For the first instance in Jaguar and Hot Wheels’ history, a 1:64 scale model is debuting alongside the actual beast. If purchasing the Hot Wheels version is the sole option, it will be obtainable in development camouflage or blue finishes.
Official pricing in the U.S. has not yet been disclosed, but in the U.K., the 2021 Jaguar F-Type will commence at approximately $70,000.
