A vehicle’s paint color is considered exceptional if it can captivate the human mind. Acura’s Thermal Orange Pearl, reminiscent of McLaren’s renowned Papaya Orange, debuted on the NSX supercar in 2019 and is one such mesmerizing hue. It evokes the same awe as Willy Wonka’s lickable wallpaper.

While the privilege of experiencing this extraordinary color is generally limited to affluent NSX buyers, a select number of customers for the 2021 Acura RDX can indulge their curiosity this autumn by acquiring one of the 360 RDX PMC Editions.

Named after Acura’s Performance Manufacturing Center, the 2021 RDX PMC Edition will be meticulously crafted alongside the NSX, sharing its vibrant paint. With sharp angles and a striking orange akin to that of a McLaren supercar, these PMC Editions blend the luxury features of the Advanced Package with the sporty aesthetic of the A-Spec package, including adaptive dampers, a 360-degree camera, a 10.5-inch color HUD, and distinctive design enhancements. True to any limited edition, it boasts unique details like gloss black accents and exclusive 20-inch black alloy wheels.

Inside, drivers will find 16-way power sport front seats adorned with Ebony Milano leather and Ultrasuede, featuring stitching in the matching orange hue. A heated A-Spec-style steering wheel (exclusive to this model) provides added comfort during cool autumn mornings, while heated outboard rear seats offer warmth to passengers—without any subscription fee. For those who prefer fresh air, the panoramic moonroof allows a refreshing breeze, though care should be taken to keep leaves off the exclusive numbered serial plaque on the center console.

Like all RDX models, the PMC Edition is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. This engine produces 272 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, which is channeled through a 10-speed automatic transmission to Acura’s Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD). This system enhances traction with the aid of all-season performance tires.

The 2021 Acura RDX PMC Edition will be limited to just 360 units, available in early October at a starting price in the low $50,000 range. Deliveries are expected to coincide with the fall foliage, complementing the model’s autumnal orange paint, while the cupholder prepares for the soon-to-arrive pumpkin spice latte.
