Year, Make, Model: 2020 Lexus RC F Track Edition

Overview: At the recent Paris Motor Show, Lexus introduced the updated 2019 RC, but notably, it did not present the high-performance F model. Instead, the 2019 RC F remained largely unchanged from its predecessor. However, Lexus had more ambitious plans in store, as they are set to unveil the new 2020 RC F Track Edition in January.

What’s Different: The 2020 RC F Track Edition will be equipped with the same 5.0-liter V8 engine found in both the GS F and RC F. Reports from Automotive News suggest that it will generate approximately 500 horsepower, making it the second most powerful Lexus to date, following the LFA supercar, which produced 552 hp from its 4.8-liter V-10 engine.

In addition to the power boost, the vehicle is expected to shed weight through enhanced use of carbon fiber. An aerodynamic package is likely to include a sizable rear carbon fiber wing, along with possible additions like a rear diffuser, front splitter, and side skirts.

Key Information: It’s possible that Lexus will incorporate parts from TRD Japan for the RC F, which already offers an array of carbon fiber components, a mechanical limited-slip differential, 20-inch forged aluminum wheels, and a titanium exhaust, among other features. Although the press release shared limited details, Lexus hinted at a carbon fiber wing featuring a detailed design with the F logo integrated into it. According to Automotive News, production volumes for this model will be quite limited.
