Year, Make, Model: 2019 Lexus RC

Overview: The luxurious coupe marks its fifth year in production, having first debuted in 2015. Updates to the design aim to reflect the more alluring and pricier LC model, though the RC will largely maintain its current appearance until a successor is introduced in the future.

New Features: The RC showcases updated headlights, replacing the previous concave housings, and now includes separate daytime running lights. The redesigned front bumper features an enhanced spindle grille, while the rear bumper incorporates functional vents located below the new taillights. The F Sport variant boasts a distinctive mesh pattern for the spindle grille and introduces 19-inch alloy wheels. Additionally, a new color option, Blue Vortex Metallic, has been added. Enhancements also include new bushings and shock absorbers, along with improved throttle and steering responsiveness.

Quote: “The refreshed styling of the 2019 RC preserves the strengths of the previous model while further polishing the design language initially set by the flagship LC coupe. Within the interior, every detail—from premium materials to controls and gauges—has been reassessed to enhance the driving experience,” stated Lexus in a press announcement.

Additional Information: In North America, the RC will continue to offer two powertrain options: a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine generating 241 horsepower and a 3.5-liter V6 with 311 horsepower.

The company has not yet confirmed when the updated model will be available in dealerships or whether there will be any price increases (the starting price for the 2018 RC is $40,640). Lexus indicated to The Drive that, “Pricing and availability will be provided closer to the official unveiling at the 2018 Paris Motor Show in early October.” The debut of the 2019 Lexus RC is scheduled for the first week of October in Paris.
