One of the standout features of the 2019 GMC Sierra is its groundbreaking carbon fiber composite bed, known as CarbonPro. This industry-first innovation is designed to serve as an alternative to traditional steel and truck bedliners. After much anticipation, the pricing details have finally been revealed, although it remains unclear how much the bed would cost separately.

For the remainder of the 2019 model year, the CarbonPro bed will only be available as part of specific packages for the AT4 off-road truck and the luxurious Denali model.

The AT4 package is priced at $66,635 and includes nearly all available options, such as the performance exhaust paired with the 6.2-liter V8 engine and an advanced rearview mirror featuring a camera. Additionally, it comes with the optional integrated Kicker speaker for the MultiPro tailgate, which is standard on both the AT4 and Denali models.

The Denali equipped with the CarbonPro bed is priced at $70,020. This fully-loaded version features CarbonPro badging, distinctive 22-inch wheels, a Kicker sound system, and additional premium features.

Production of the 2019 CarbonPro package is expected to be limited for various reasons, primarily because the model year is drawing to a close. GMC has informed The Drive that more Sierra trucks with additional options for the CarbonPro bed will be available in the 2020 model year.

Duncan Aldred, VP of global Buick and GMC, stated, “When you analyze the option lists and do the calculations, customers are essentially receiving our leading innovation at no extra cost. They will possess a product that rivals the competition at an exceptional value.”

CarbonPro represents General Motors’ most resilient pickup truck bed to date, but its construction from specialized materials does come at a higher price point. Despite the high cost, these trucks remain competitively priced against other half-ton options from Ford and Ram, while offering a unique feature that the competitors do not have. Additionally, CarbonPro is designed and manufactured in the United States, as confirmed during a recent tour of its production facility.
