Key Features: The standout element of the convertible is its innovative “Z” folding roof, which opens and closes in just 19 seconds while travelling at speeds of up to 30 miles per hour. Notably, this roof is three decibels quieter than its predecessor’s, making it just as serene as the previous coupe model. Buyers can choose from eight interior liner colors and seven exterior paint options, including a tweed finish, reflecting VW Group’s playful nod to Bentley’s British roots.

Unlike many convertibles that sacrifice structural integrity, the Continental GT Convertible boasts a chassis that is both five percent stiffer and 20 percent lighter than the previous model. With a body available in a choice of 17 paint colors and an impressive 70 shades, the vehicle’s interior is adorned with over 107 square feet of wood, available in eight veneer options or four dual-veneer combinations.

The standard audio system includes 10 speakers delivering 650 watts of sound, but enthusiasts can upgrade to a 1,500-watt, 16-speaker setup from Bang & Olufsen. For the ultimate audio experience, there’s even a 2,200-watt, 18-speaker Naim system featuring eight sound modes and active bass transducers, aimed at discerning listeners.

Regarding performance, the Continental GT houses a powerful 6.0-liter W-12 engine paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, generating 626 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque. It accelerates from zero to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds, reaching a top speed of 207 mph. The vehicle is also equipped with cylinder deactivation technology, allowing the W-12 engine to function like a VR-6 in cruising conditions, along with stop-start technology to minimize idle time, even during coasting. Advanced fuel injection methods prevent intake valve coking.

Notable Quote: Bentley CEO Adrian Hallmark remarked, “Our new Continental GT Convertible offers an elegant understatement that compels attention and showcases engineering excellence that you might take for granted. Its exceptional capabilities are exclusive to our prestigious British brand.”

Additional Insights: As noted by the CEO of competing luxury carmaker Aston Martin, the wealthy are accumulating more wealth, prompting luxury brands to capitalize on the expanding affluent market. A strong competitor to the Bentley Continental GT Convertible is the BMW 8 Series convertible, which offers approximately 80 percent of the features at around half the price. While the $215,000 hardtop version of the Continental left an impression, it also raised concerns for editor Mike Guy of The Drive, as high expectations should not accompany such a premium price point.
