Year Make Model: 2019 Acura ILX
Overview: The 2019 Acura ILX features a redesigned front end and includes standard safety technology, enhancing its appeal compared to competitors.
Updates: A modernized exterior sports Acura’s distinctive diamond pentagon grille, flanked by LED headlights and a more sharply defined hood. This design enables the ILX to align with the brand’s contemporary style. New for 2019 are two wheel designs: a 17-inch split five-spoke wheel featuring unique finishes for different trims and an exclusive 18-inch A-Spec wheel.
The 2019 ILX will now come standard with AcuraWatch safety features, which include collision mitigation braking, forward collision warning, lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and road departure mitigation with lane departure warning. Acura is leading the luxury market by making this suite of safety features standard across its lineup.
Under the hood, there is one engine choice: a 2.4-liter I-4 generating 201 horsepower, paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. Acura did not comment when asked if they would include the 1.5-liter turbo engine found in the Civic Si, which is a sibling model.
The interior has been upgraded with a new dual-screen infotainment system that features enhanced graphics and supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The front seats are redesigned for a sportier feel and come with options for contrast stitching. Buyers can choose from three interior colors: Graystone, Ebony, and a new Espresso color for 2019.
The exterior color options have expanded to include five new shades: Platinum White Pearl, Majestic Black Pearl, Performance Red Pearl, Canyon Bronze Metallic, and A-Spec exclusive Apex Blue Pearl, along with the existing Lunar Silver Metallic and Modern Steel Metallic options.
For 2019, the ILX is available in an A-Spec trim which features exclusive interior options, including ebony or red leather combined with black suede inserts and contrasting stitching. The A-Spec model includes additional interior features such as a graphite silver dashboard accent with chrome insert, an A-Spec branded steering wheel, and aluminum sport pedals.
On the exterior, the 2019 ILX A-Spec boasts dark chrome accents on the front grille and lower fascia, LED fog lights, and a glossy black decklid spoiler. The A-Spec models are fitted with unique 18-inch wheels that have a bold design and Shark Gray finish.
Notable Quote: “The Acura ILX is crucial as it introduces new customers to the brand, particularly younger buyers. It has consistently led the entry-level luxury segment, gaining significant retail market share in the first half of the year and attracting the highest percentage of millennials compared to other models since 2013,” stated an Acura representative.
Key Information: The ILX is Acura’s compact luxury sedan, with the 2019 model set to hit dealerships across the country in October.
An Acura spokesperson informed The Drive that pricing details will be shared as the launch date approaches.
