Enthusiasts of Tiffin Motorhomes Will Appreciate These 12 RV Resorts After Exploring Red Bay

Engage in conversations on a top-tier RVing forum such as iRV2.com and you’ll come across abundant discussions about the necessary attributes of a campground to be considered an RV resort. If you stumble upon the Tiffin Owners Forum, you will also encounter many Tiffinites sharing their experiences in Red Bay, Alabama. This town is where the highly esteemed Tiffin Motorhomes are manufactured. After arriving for routine upkeep, repairs, or enhancements, most RV owners prefer not to head straight back. Being an owner of a Tiffin Phaeton myself, I found it fascinating to merge these ideas and compile a list of deluxe RV Resorts that can be reached within a day’s drive of Red Bay.

Establishing the Parameters

Criteria for Campground Resorts

Similar to others, I hold strong opinions on what makes an RV Resort exceptional. Using the advanced filtering tools integrated into RV LIFE Trip Wizard, my initial criteria were as follows:

  • Electrical Service of 50-Amp
  • Accessible for Big Rigs
  • Complete Hookups
  • Wi-Fi and/or high-speed internet
  • Outstanding Ratings (4 stars or higher with a rating of 8.4 or above)
  • In addition, I narrowed down the pricing to four $$$$ to concentrate on the more luxurious resorts.
A Map of the US highlighting campground filtration criteria.

As mentioned, the campground must possess a minimum rating of 4 stars in RV LIFE Trip Wizard or a rating of 8.4 or higher on RV LIFE Campgrounds. The site should have paved roads, and the pads should also be paved, made of concrete, adorned with paver stones, or a blend of all three. This eliminates locations with dirt and gravel roads.

During the exploration of these destinations, they should offer at least some supplementary resort amenities, apart from the aforementioned criteria. Different RVers have varying preferences regarding the most important facilities. For us, amenities like a pool and pickleball court are less crucial compared to clean, paved trails and excellent internet connectivity. The comprehensive reviews available on RV LIFE Trip Wizard and RV LIFE Campgrounds should contain numerous high-quality images and recent feedback to ensure alignment and allow for virtual exploration of the campground before making a commitment.

Travel Criteria from Red Bay

I also utilized Trip Wizard’s built-in Driving Radius to determine my travel boundaries. Considering that I typically maintain an average speed of 58 mph in a day, I set the extended driving radius to six hours. Bear in mind that this is merely a visible guideline and does not restrict my journey. In reality, a six-hour day of travel typically translates into seven or even eight hours on the road, accounting for breaks, fuel stops, lunch breaks, and so on. This stands as my maximum duration behind the wheel. Usually, I opt for considerably less. Nonetheless, this is a distance that most RVers are willing to cover for the ultimate prize: a deluxe RV Resort.

The List of Campgrounds: Within a Day’s Drive from Red Bay

With the stringent criteria I had established, I discovered a few notable exceptions that were appropriate; however, most of these were predictably situated near or along the gulf coast. Let’s make this clear, there are numerous outstanding RV resorts in various locations. If the timeframe was extended to two days, then “I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written” detailing all the potential campgrounds we could uncover.
